May 18 Forum Agenda
9:00 a.m. – 9:05 a.m. Welcome and Introductions
9:05 a.m. – 11:55 a.m. Human Resources Outlook: How Changes Will Affect Your Bank
Michael D. Gifford, Attorney and Counselor, Howard & Howard Attorneys PLLC
This session will help HR professionals anticipate and respond to the new challenges they face every day. As if the “return from Covid” was not enough, the change in political administrations increases the list of new requirements with which HR professionals must deal. We will talk about new limitations on the use of arbitration, the new Illinois Equal Pay Act Registration Certificates, the new Illinois Notary Law, and coming trends in employment law. Finally, no HR program in 2022 would be complete without at least touching on the status of Covid restrictions, accommodations, and what employees want and expect. Finally, we will leave time for an “Ask the Lawyer” session. Bring your questions, and we’ll do what we can to answer!
To Arbitrate or Not to Arbitrate; It’s a Federal Question
President Biden signed the “Ending Forced Arbitration of Sexual Assault and Sexual Harassment Act of 2021” into law on March 3rd. Does it impact you, and if so, how? Be aware of the potential problems and pitfalls of this new law and how it fits into your employment, restrictive covenant, and severance agreements.
Oh Goody!!! More Paperwork
Illinois’ new Equal Pay Act Registration Certificates are a gotcha waiting to trap the unwary. We’ll talk about how they work, who has to submit them, what goes into them, and when they’re due.
Illinois New Notary Law: Has Anyone Seen My Jurat?
It has been a few years, and we have all these new Covid and remote procedures. We’ll discuss the changes, new requirements, and how they impact you and your bank.
Covid End Game: Anyone in the Office?
Discussion of the right now, current, today status of Covid rules, requirements, and practices, as well as what is changed forever and not going back to the “good ole days.”
New Law Potpourri
A sampler of noteworthy changes to Illinois law and how they affect your bank.
Ask the Lawyer!
Your favorite game show, where you try to come up with a question that the lawyer can’t answer! State and Federal trends in labor law? How do we monitor and evaluate remote work? What is the workplace going to look like in a few years? Do you still need all that space? How do you handle the morale problems? And more!
11:55 a.m. - 12:45 p.m. Lunch Break
12:45 p.m. – 2:45 p.m. Open Discussion
