HR is ever-changing. Join us for this session where we will cover a variety of issues pertinent to Illinois HR professionals in 2022 and beyond.

New Laws
Illinois has recently implemented or changed some laws, including the CROWN Act and the One Day Rest in Seven Act (ODRIS). Let’s talk about what you need to know.

Learning Objectives – Understanding of:

  • What the CROWN Act says and how you should incorporate it into your policies
  • Dos and Don’ts with the CROWN Act
  • What the current ODRIS (governing breaks and days worked) says
  • What the new changes (January 1, 2023) will say

Compensation Conundrums
The “Great Resignation” and the “Quiet Quitting” are still affecting us. How are other employers combatting these issues? What are best practices?

Learning Objectives - Understanding of:

  • What other organizations are doing with increases and stay bonuses
  • What other organizations are doing outside of compensation to keep people
  • What trends we foresee for the future in compensation

Affirmative Action Updates
We’re in a Democratic Administration, and that typically means increased enforcement from the Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP), which requires affirmative action programs from certain financial institutions. What is new in this area?

Learning Objectives – Understanding of:

  • What banks are covered under the affirmative action regulations
  • What the new “Verification Interface” for contractors means
  • How the OFCCP looks at your compensation of employees in an audit

Politics & Drugs
These topics are the bane of HR’s existence. What can you do when politics or drugs spill into the workplace?

Learning Objectives – Understanding of:

  • What the National Labor Relations Act says about politics in the workplace
  • What employees are allowed to say or not say, either at work or on social media
  • Should you revisit your marijuana policies? How does it work when it’s illegal federally but legal on a state basis?
