Ag & Commercial Lending Law Update

Hybrid Event
Thursday, October 30, 2025 9:00 AM - 2:00 PM   iCalendar Central Standard Time

The Illinois Uniform Commercial Code can leave a transaction in shambles when not understood and followed.  We will attempt to explain some of the more “dangerous provisions” by reviewing court opinions, fact patterns, and examples.  The facts, backgrounds, and rulings from these cases and opinions will be discussed in an effort to help lenders identify potential problems and risks when assessing, underwriting, and administering loans.

This program is intended for lenders working with agricultural borrowers.  We will concentrate on the special nuances related to agricultural loans, including various risk assessment and loan management techniques that may arise in today’s agricultural loan settings. The goal or our program is to provide lenders with a better understanding of the scope and application of the Illinois Uniform Commercial Code, and to provide alternatives and options for avoiding the pitfalls of documentation and perfection that have been identified by court opinions.
