IBA’s Chief Financial Officer Peer Groups provide an investment for you and your bank’s future by offering a platform and opportunity for CFOs, financial managers, controllers, CEOs, and other senior bank officers interested in enhancing their organization’s profitability to discuss emerging issues and industry hot topics and network with their peers.
Each CFO group meets three times during the year to exchange ideas freely, dissect problems, and discuss important issues. Participants will gain valuable insights on emerging issues and trends in the financial industry, explore methods to improve financial function efficiency and learn best practices in bank financial management.
The participants and facilitators determine a variety of discussion topics, focusing on accounting and financial reporting developments, Interest Rate Risk, Liquidity, fraud, management succession, digital transformation, and much more.

Steve Schick, CPA, CGMA, Audit Engagement Partner – As a partner in Plante Moran’s financial services practice, Steve provides assurance and risk management services to publicly traded and privately held financial institutions, including community and regional banks. He also serves investment advisors, mortgage companies, broker-dealers, and investment companies. Steve specializes in performing and supervising external and internal audits, loan review engagements, cybersecurity reviews, regulatory compliance reviews, and SEC surprise custody audits, as well as collaborating with clients to resolve accounting, regulatory, and business challenges. Steve provides a practical approach to working through business challenges. Clients can count on him to distill complex situations into accessible parts which helps them focus on the urgent issues. Steve speaks to clients and their boards and at industry conferences, such as the Illinois Bankers Association, about topics of current interest to business leaders, including the impact of new accounting pronouncements and financial reporting requirements. He belongs to the AICPA and the Illinois CPA Society. He has a B.S. in commerce from DePaul University.
Sherrie Krowczyk-Mendoza, CPA, CFSA, CRP, FIRM, Partner, Financial Services Group – Sherrie provides risk advisory services to financial institutions. This includes internal audit outsourcing and co-sourcing, regulatory compliance, and loan review, as well as the implementation, development, and testing of FDICIA and SOX Section 404, and the development and reorganization of clients’ internal audit functions. Her extensive accounting and finance experience includes all levels of responsibility with business risk assessments, risk-based internal audits, board and audit committee reporting, corporate governance consulting, and consulting with institutions under consent orders. With over 30 years of experience, Sherri has conducted several outside training, webinars, and presentations on internal audit, regulatory compliance, FDICIA implementation and compliance, corporate and board governance, and other related topics. Sherrie is a member of the AICPA, IIA, FMS, Illinois CPA Society, Wisconsin Institute of CPAs, Illinois Bankers Association, Wisconsin Bankers Association, National Association of Financial Services Auditors, and Fiduciary and Investment Risk Management Association. Sherrie graduated from Rockford College with a B.S. in accounting and mathematics and a double minor in computer science and business administration.
