2025: The Year Ahead in HR
Angela Adams, CEBS, SPHR, SHRM-SCP, Director, HR Services, HR Source

Illinois Governor Pritzker has his pen out, and he isn’t afraid to use it. During this session, we will go over the various Illinois laws that go into effect on January 1, 2025, including:

  • Pay and benefits in job ads under the Equal Pay Act
  • Changes to protected classes and filing limitations in the Human Rights Act
  • Modifications to the Illinois Personnel Records Review Act
  • Amendments to the Right to Privacy in the Workplace Act
  • The new Worker Freedom of Speech Act
  • The federal salary threshold for exempt status under the Fair Labor Standards Act that increases on January 1, 2025. Understand what the changes are, how likely they are to be challenged, and what you need to do now to prepare.
  • While the outcome of the 2024 election will likely have a big impact on this issue, we’ll also discuss the future of employer affirmative action and diversity/equity/inclusion efforts. Discuss what is currently acceptable under these areas, what may be contested going forward, and how it may impact employee relations. Learn how the recent U.S. Supreme Court decision that eliminated “Chevron deference” will impact these topics.
