10:45 a.m.15 Errors to Avoid When Conducting Internal Investigations
Internal fraud can cost financial institutions unrecoverable money and time. When the embezzler
hasn’t been identified, emotions run high! Investigations launched in panic with the wrong leaders
may cause unexpected complications. This eye-opening presentation will explain what not to do. Staff
who have not been trained on internal embezzlement may cause flawed investigations, harassment
charges, and unsolved losses. This program will explain 15 errors that can result in a failed
investigation. Awareness of these pitfalls will enable your institution to establish an action plan that
will protect you when the unthinkable happens.
12:00 p.m.Lunch Break
1:00 p.m.Focus Groups and Case Studies
In this session, learn vital new skills and insights in educating your staff to report their gut feelings
when something might be wrong. If you establish the proper framework, your staff will report what
they feel is wrong. There are so many opportunities for the Security Manager to make inappropriate
decisions, particularly during a crisis event. Making effective, critical decisions requires education,
training, and experience – and it’s the experience part that is the most difficult to acquire. Working
within the nation’s military services, in law enforcement, or in emergency management fields will
provide that experience. Working in another industry won’t. This session will provide you with the
insight you need to handle unusual situations.
1:45 p.m.Hot Topics in Security
Security threats are constantly evolving. This session will cover emerging ATM attack
trends, the growing role of artificial intelligence in financial security, and other key
updates affecting the banking industry.
2:15 p.m.Break
2:30 p.m.Handling Difficult People (or Diffusing Hostile People)
Handling difficult people is one of the hardest situations staff is asked to manage on a regular basis.
This program reviews problems frontline staff and management could face during interactions with
accountholders and teaches methods to help you cope when things get hostile. People who become
upset need to be defused and doing so is not always easy. The most well-meaning intentions could
escalate the problem. We review causative factors, warning signs, and the proper use of cognitive
listening.
